After 25 years without picking up a paintbrush, the urge to draw and paint suddenly returned in March this year.
Since then, I have been creating new work every day. Not based on a preconceived image, but driven by an impulse arising from materials, colours, lines and patterns.
The first layer is purely intuitive. After that, an interplay develops between feeling and choice, between chance and intention. Layer upon layer, the work takes shape.
I allow room for emotion, doubt and the unexpected. Gradually, the image takes on meaning. But just as often, something emerges that cannot (yet) be expressed in words.
